We are in growth mode and looking to add a dynamic Senior Software Engineer (Rails) to our PayNearMe team. This position reports to the Director of Engineering of our ‘Numbers’ team.

As a senior engineer on the Numbers team, you will have significant responsibility, owning code that enables our business partners and consumers to move billions of dollars.

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and robust code our primary Ruby on Rails system and GO services.
  • Be the team's lead troubleshooter, researching issues across multiple services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Write well-tested code using RSpec, emphasizing security, performance, and resilience
  • Make practical decisions with good judgment when faced with design constraints
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback through Git pull requests
  • Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment

Qualifications

  • Strong command of Ruby and Rails (understanding the boundaries between them)
  • A working knowledge of GO - used in professional experience
  • Have a tenacious desire to get to the bottom of things
  • Compassion for end users - knowing that even a small payment is very important to someone
  • Ability and willingness to write detailed technical documentation for a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience working in a large codebase and communicating about code
  • Ability to make practical decisions with good judgment when faced with design constraints
  • Commitment to writing well-tested code that considers security, performance, and resilience
  • Respect and support for team members of all levels and backgrounds, with openness to both teaching and learning

Salary Range: $160,000 - $175,000
