Caraway specializes in the health of women and people assigned female at birth, and provides personalized care for all. Our services are instantly accessible, always available, comprehensive, and equitable. If you want to be part of a mission-driven, motivated, collaborative team working to change healthcare for a generation, come join us!

Caraway is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us create an exceptional and delightful experience for our members, clients, and clinicians. As Caraway’s first in-house designer, you’ll have a unique opportunity to establish our UX styles, systems, and processes and partner to update Caraway’s visual brand identity. Reporting to the Head of Product, this role will also work closely with product, engineering, and brand and marketing teams. The ideal candidate is able to provide specifications and support to empower an engineering team to ship great designs, has experience designing for mobile apps and consumer-facing businesses, and is comfortable articulating and advocating for design decisions across a spectrum of stakeholders.

Please provide your portfolio when applying. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.

What you'll do

  • Work with product leadership to lead the design thinking and process from discovery to execution for Caraway’s core digital products, including our mobile app, website, and Caraway clinic
  • Advocate for the voice of Caraway members through a breadth of techniques, from conducting user interviews to developing member personas to prototyping and iterating on design solutions with users
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, design libraries, and detailed, pixel-perfect specifications as needed to communicate designs to partners and stakeholders from executive leadership to engineering
  • Partner with marketing designer and creative director colleagues to enhance Caraway’s visual identity with an eye towards seamless and streamlined implementation across touchpoints
  • Document detailed user journeys in partnership with product, clinical, and brand experience teams
  • Establish design standards, systems, and processes to support and streamline the engineering process while creating a best-in-class user experience
  • Bring a strong design sense to the company and advocate for great UX, inspiring your colleagues and collaborators with a strong point of view about what’s possible and aspirational for the member, client, and clinician experience
  • Balance multiple workstreams, prioritize, and work well under pressure in a fast-moving working environment

Who you are

  • At least 4+ years prior UI/UX product design experience, with a successful track record of designing delightful and impactful consumer-facing products, including mobile apps
  • Expertise in digital design, including mobile/responsive techniques and modern UI/UX and product design standards
  • Core UI/UX design skills, including the development of design systems, intuitive interaction models, information architecture, user flows, and pattern guides
  • Experience with creative software, including Figma, UXPin, and comfort creating design libraries and specifications to streamline the development process for engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to build a deep understanding of your users through research, user testing, and product data, and design solutions centered around their needs
  • Appreciation and understanding of brand design and the belief that products shipped must represent the brand with consistent visual identity and language
  • A team player with low ego and a willingness to be curious and collaborative
  • Excited about the work of an early-stage startup – you’re ready to move fast and be scrappy when needed while finding opportunities to establish and improve processes along the way
  • Healthcare/health tech or Gen Z-focused experience is a big plus
