What You'll Be Working On
As BrewBird’s first Director of Manufacturing Operations, you’ll play a hands-on, strategic role in driving engineering operational excellence across our global supply chain, manufacturing ecosystem, and brewer service and repair. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth, scalable growth for the product and engineering team. You bring a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, setting a high bar for execution, and using data to drive smart, impactful decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

This role will be based in the company’s headquarters, located in San Carlos, CA. The expected salary range for this role is between $180,000 – $200,000.

Core Responsibilities 🛠️

  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing manufacturing operations team. Define clear objectives, hold teams accountable for results, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Outsourcing & Vendor Management: Identify opportunities to outsource operations where beneficial, ensuring vendors meet performance standards, cost targets, and quality expectations.
  • NPI Process Optimization: Design and implement operational workflows that scale, driving standardization and repeatability while bridging the gap between product engineering design and manufacturing, and driving tool and fixture development.
  • Quality & Compliance: Drive rigorous quality assurance processes across manufacturing and service (Six Sigma, etc). Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions to maintain high reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Product Reliability & Fleet Health: Monitor and analyze brewer fleet performance in the field, proactively addressing reliability issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product uptime and customer experience.
  • Service Operations: Establish and manage service and refurbishment programs to extend product lifecycle. Partner with the existing team to strategize for field upgrades, repairs, and replacements while optimizing cost and efficiency.

Desired Qualifications ✅

  • Proven track record as an executive in operations management, manufacturing, or supply chain leadership at a hardware-based, consumer electronics / electromechanical company. Some experience at a startup is required.
  • Progressive experience in multiple successful hardware companies where demonstrable experience leading with problems from the ground up to leadership.
  • A strong background in engineering, manufacturing, and/or supply chain.
  • Strong leadership, hiring and management experience. Includes setting excellence standards for team, ensuring continuous improvement and a growth mentality.
  • Strong experience managing contract manufacturers, certification programs, service teams, and complex global supply chains and suppliers
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments with an open mentality and a resourceful approach.
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with high-level strategic planning.
  • Experience setting up field service, upgrades, and refurbishment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • High willingness to frequently travel to Asia, and work across time zones (Asia / California) is required
