About This Role
Barkbus is a fast-growing mobile pet grooming company with a nationwide fleet of custom vans. We're looking for an experienced and reliable part-time Fleet Repair & Maintenance Specialist to help maintain and service our vehicles in top shape. This is a 1099 contract role ideal for a self-starter with experience in automotive, specialty vehicle repair and/or handyman work.
Role & Responsibilities
Conduct Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS) on mobile grooming vans
Perform Tier 2 vehicle repairs, including chassis and salon system components
Use Fleetio (mobile app) to manage assignments, inspections, and documentation
Manage inventory of vehicle maintenance supplies to ensure availability and accuracy
Refill fluids (DEF, windshield wiper, coolant) as needed
Document issues with clear, timely, and detailed notes in Fleetio
Complete new vehicle onboarding and equipment installation per company specs
Perform van deep cleans (Type-B and Type-C) per schedule
Adhere to defined service timelines and standards
Qualifications & Experience
Must be both a people and dog lover!
2+ years of experience in automotive repair or related field
Ability to diagnose and perform mid-level to advanced vehicle repairs
Comfortable using mobile work order platforms (e.g., Fleetio or similar)
Strong attention to detail and time management
Owns necessary tools and has access to reliable transportation
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mobile service units or custom vehicle up-fitting
Familiarity with grooming van components (e.g., dryers, actuators, pumps)
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Hours and Availability
Flexible scheduling – part-time, contract basis
Must be available for on-site repairs as assigned and complete work within defined deadlines
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive Hourly Rate: $28/hr-$32/hr, based on experience.
